17 - 17
Exhibition
17 years of life, 17 pieces of art. As my first solo exhibition, 17-17 showcases original artworks centered around the theme of Identity exploration. Amidst stagnation brought by the pandemic, I wanted my works to encourage public reflection on the intense yet cathartic transformations of identity.

Artist Statement
Inspired by my own ever-shifting identity, many of my pieces explore themes such as sexuality, gender, cultural identity, and familial relationships.
I employ convoluted lines, juxtaposed textures, and an almost irritating level of detail to embody the discomfort of shifting from easy, comfortable ignorance to a confused and ambiguous state of knowing. I experiment with and combine unconventional materials, completing many of my projects using digital animation, textile printmaking, ceramics, and installation design. With these exploratory and interdisciplinary techniques, I parallel themes of transformation and adaptability of identity.
To me, visual symbols are foundational to the human experience. As I develop my own exploratory techniques and interdisciplinary approach, I am beginning to understand my place in this world as an emerging artist.
